Just Breathe

Last year on vacation in Laguna Beach, CA I saw this sign while walking on a beautiful trail that parallels the ocean. I stopped in my tracks, chuckled, and thought "Is this for real?" I had to take a picture! I couldn't believe it and yet I needed the reminder–BREATHE. It was such a gift on the first day of vacation and brought to my awareness the hurried pace and overly responsible, dutiful ways I had gotten caught up in living and working once again!

This week I’ve needed the boldness of the sign again–just BREATHE! Of course, I breathe all the time, but paying attention to my breathing calms my swirling thoughts, helps me get in touch with my feelings, and brings awareness to what my body often is trying to tell me before my mind and heart are willing to accept it!

I’m so grateful for the warming temperatures, the sunshine, and the opportunities to pause in between Zoom Meetings, Client Appointments, and the everyday, ordinary tasks to go outside and just enjoy the sounds of spring throughout the day even when I’m working! In taking the pause, I'm reminded what it feels like to live out of devotion both to my self/soul and to others, rather than living dutifully. Starting the day again with gratitude, remembering to breathe, and moving forward knowing that extra measures of grace for myself and others are needed in this season! Keep breathing–we are stronger together!
